DBDB Training x Senior Fitness Podcast: Age Is Just a Number
DBDB head coach Andrew Tasker and HYROX podium athlete Neil Jensen join the Senior Fitness Podcast to spread one message to the masses: fitness after 50 isn't optional — it's essential.
When the Crew Meets the Mic
There's a line we hear a lot at DBDB Training: "I'm too old to start." It's usually said by someone who's about to prove themselves wrong. The Senior Fitness Podcast exists to prove it wrong at scale — and this season, DBDB head coach Andrew Tasker and HYROX podium athlete Neil Jensen joined the show to help carry that message to anyone who'll listen.
The pod's tagline says it all: Age is just a number. It's a philosophy DBDB has lived since the first lockdown session on the North Plaza pitches — men and women from 18 to 75 training side by side, proving that strength, conditioning and community don't come with an expiry date.

Taking the Message to the Masses
For most of its history, DBDB Training's philosophy on ageing and fitness has lived on one patch of turf in Discovery Bay. The Senior Fitness Podcast takes that philosophy and broadcasts it — to parents who think they've missed their window, to former athletes who stopped moving, to anyone who's been told that getting slower and weaker is just "part of getting old."
It isn't. And the pod's whole mission is to show, episode after episode, that the body you have at 50, 60 or 70 is still wildly trainable. Strength can be rebuilt. Cardio capacity can be regained. The decade you think is behind you can be the decade you get back.

That's why the collaboration tank tops you see across the DBDB crew this season aren't just merch — they're a statement. Senior Fitness Podcast across the chest, Discovery Bay Dad Bods on the badge, and a reminder that the people proving this message are real members, training in real weather, on a real field.

Andrew Tasker: Coaching for the Long Game
Head coach Andrew Tasker has built DBDB around a simple belief: training should make you better at life, not just at the gym. On the pod, he digs into how programming changes — or should change — as athletes move through their 40s, 50s and beyond. Recovery matters more. Consistency beats intensity. And the goal isn't a single peak; it's a body that keeps showing up, season after season.
It's the same approach that turned a lockdown workout group into an official HYROX Training Club and one of Hong Kong's most genuine outdoor fitness communities. The mic just gives it a bigger audience.
Neil Jensen: Proof on the Podium
If you want the Senior Fitness Podcast's thesis in human form, look at Neil Jensen. Neil placed first among the over-50s at Hong Kong's inaugural HYROX race in 2023, clocking 1:21:35 with partner Trevor Smith, and qualified for the HYROX World Championships in Nice.
He didn't get there on talent alone. He got there by showing up to DBDB sessions in the dark, training through Hong Kong's humidity, and refusing to accept that 50-plus means slowing down. On the show, Neil's story does what stats can't: it makes "age is just a number" feel achievable rather than aspirational.
