Beijing or Bust: The DBDB Crew Conquers HYROX Beijing
Personal bests, first-time solos, a 58-minute mixed doubles and a #3-ranked Pro debut — the DBDB crew took on HYROX Beijing and brought the whole neon-tank energy with them.
The DBDB Crew Takes Beijing
Some weekends you train for. Some weekends you travel for. This past weekend, the DBDB crew did both — packing up the neon tanks, the kettlebell calluses and a terrifying amount of snacks, and flying up to HYROX Beijing to throw down on the stadium floor. What came back? Personal bests, first-time finishes, a relay team that ran like they had somewhere better to be, and a group-selfie game that's honestly Olympic-grade.
From the first Wall Ball rep to the final burpee Broad Jump, the crew showed exactly what DBDB is about: showing up, lifting each other, and leaving it all on the blue floor. Here's how everyone got on — times, PBs, and a whole lot of heart.
Women's Open
Varvara smashed her way to a 1:36 personal best — a huge mark and a reminder that the open category is anything but "easy." Michelle crossed in 1:54, Tanya hit a 1:53 PB, and Kat-I-E rounded out the open squad with a 2:01 PB. Four for four, every one of them walking away faster than they've ever been. That's a clean sweep of personal bests — the kind of weekend coaches dream about.
Women's Pro Solo
Sindy lined up solo in the Pro division — the deep end, no partner, nowhere to hide — and finished in 1:31 for her first-ever solo HYROX. First solo. Pro division. Let that sink in. Gutsy doesn't cover it.
Women's Open Doubles
Joana and Eloise paired up for a blazing 1:23, and Tanya and Serap rolled in at 1:40 with a personal best for Serap. Two teams, two big smiles, one shared burpee count nobody wants to relive.
Women's Pro Doubles
Imelda and Kathleen took on the Pro field and finished 1:41, while Ali and Julia flew home in 1:26 — a personal best for Julia. Pro doubles means Pro stations, Pro standards, Pro pain — and both pairs handled it like veterans.
Women's Relay
Joana, Eloise, Day and Mo ran the relay in 1:18 — four people, one bib, zero ego. Relay HYROX is pure chaos and pure joy, and this crew made it look like a Sunday jog. (It was absolutely not a Sunday jog.)
Mixed Doubles

The mixed field was where DBDB went deep. Nat and Matisse kicked things off with a 00:58 personal best — under an hour, and barely out of breath. Nicola and Karen crossed in 1:05, a personal best in mixed doubles for Nicola and an all-time personal best for Karen, good for #3 in the category. Kari and Satu followed in 1:10, AT and Sabrina in 1:14, and Mo and Nick closed the mixed squad out at 1:28 with a personal best for Nick.
Men's Open Solo
Pallava went solo in the open men's field and dropped a 1:38 personal best. Solo HYROX is a conversation with yourself that you can't win — and Pallava won it anyway.
Men's Pro Doubles
Stephan and Nicola stepped up to Pro doubles for the first time and laid down a 1:05 — third place and a debut to remember. Chairman and Michael rounded out the men's Pro pairs in 1:16, steady and strong from the first sled push to the last lunges.
The Crew, The Weekend, The Why
Count them up: personal bests across the open women, a first solo in Pro, a relay team flying at 1:18, a 58-minute mixed doubles, a #3-ranked Pro doubles debut, and an all-time PB for Karen. That's not just a good weekend — that's a statement.
But honestly? The times aren't the story. The story is the crew. It's the group selfies before the warm-up and the hugs after the finish. It's the person who ran their first solo cheering the loudest for the person running their tenth. It's Discovery Bay showing up in Beijing and making the blue floor feel a little bit like home.
If you've ever wondered whether this DBDB thing is for you — whether you're "fit enough," "fast enough," "the right kind of athlete" — look at the names above. Beginners, first-timers, open and pro, 58 minutes or two hours. Every one of them lined up scared and finished proud. That's the crew. That's the door. It's always open.
See you at the next start line. 💚
